Hot Springs area lakes and nearby rivers make this a great location for all types of paddlesport activities.
The three area lakes (Ouachita, Hamilton and Catherine) are fish and ski havens for the outboard and Sea-Do boaters.
I myself am a recreational kayak paddler, and enjoy the more relaxed floats on the lakes.
Ouachita Outdoors has six recreational kayaks for rent on Lake Ouachita. The more enthusiastic paddlers will enjoy
the Ouachita and Caddlo Rivers. These rivers run out of the Ouachita Mountains and are considered a Class I river,
ideal for fishing and family fun. Outfitters rent both canoes and kayaks, and offer a schuttle service for those who
have their own boats.
The Ouachita River is located just west of Mt. Ida, AR. About 45 minutes from Hot Springs,
the Caddo River at Glenwood, AR, is only 30 minutes from Hot Springs.
For the experienced canoeist and kayaker, the Cossatot River and Little Missouri River located due west of Hot Springs.
Also, if you happen to catch the Spring and Fall rainfalls, these two rivers are considered to be some of the best
Class III and Class IV whitewater areas in the State.
The Cossatot, (Indian Name: Skull Crusher) has serveral distinct areas.
Starting from ED BANKS, put-in down at Zig-Zag, then the S’s, eye opener, BMF which means ___ _____ _______,
